Pet Friendly Ice Melter

This winter make sure you use a pet friendly ice melter on areas your dog uses a lot.

You might think salt would be the natural choice to melt snow and ice on your slippery sidewalks, but it can be harmful to your pet, children, plants, and concrete surfaces.

Exposure to skin, or digestion of, these salt compounds can cause health problems for pets and children.  There are a number of brands of non-toxic, salt-free alternatives on the market today that are safe for pets and children  You can find these  online and at hardware, pet supply, and grocery/drug stores.

Zuke’s Dog & Cat Treats Now Available!

We are proud to announce that we are now selling Zuke’s Dog and Cat Treats.

Unlike other treats that are comprised of unrecognizable 14 letter ingredients, Zuke’s is formulated to provide the specific nutrients your cat or dog needs. Their products include the finest meats, premium grains, fruits, vegetables and oils available. With Zuke’s treats you’ll never find any harsh preservatives like BHA, added animal fat, nasty by–products or artificial colors or flavors. In other words, they don’t put anything in our products that we wouldn’t eat ourselves—except for Mark in accounting—he’s not so crazy about beets.

We now carry the following Zuke’s products.

Top 5 Eco-Friendly (Green) Pet Tips

Daphne’s Favorite Things

Daphne

Happy Birthday Daphne!!!  Daphne is 28 dog years old.  As some of you know Daphne is our Miniature Schnauzer.  This post is to share some of Daphne’s Favorite Things with all of you.

  1. Elevated Dog Feeder – We built these a few years back and the very first one we made became Daphne’s feeder.  She has been using it ever since and she loves it.
  2. Red Dingo Dog Tag – We found these tags awhile back and have loved them ever since.  Daphne sports the Pink Dog tag.  They have many different designs and colors to choose from.
  3. Buckle Down Dog Collar – One of the best collars around.  There are so many different styles available.  The buckle is so easy to use as well.
  4. Organic Bumper Bed - Made from 100% recycled plastic soda bottles.  These beds are awesome.
  5. Rope Tug Toy - Daphne loves to play tug and these cotton rope tugs are her favorite.  Long lasting and you can’t beat that price.
  6. Twiz by West Paw Design – West Paw Design’s newest Zogoflex toy.  It even has a spot for treats.

Cycle Dog – One of best eco friendly dog collars available

Cycle Dog Collar

This blog was set up as a place for us to talk about eco friendly and luxury dog products.  One company we came across last year was Cycle Dog.  The owners of Cycle Dog happen to be very avid bicyclists and over the years they have had many flat tires.  They began to think about different ways they could re-use all these old inner tubes.  They started off by making leashes for their own dog and have continued to refine the process and expand into making collars, belts, and other items.  Not only are these collars made out of re-used inner tubes, they also have a cool latch-lock buckle.  Another added feature is the dual function bottle opener leash attachment.  So grab a great collar and a nice cold beverage.  Cheers to Cycle Dog!!!

Bamboo Dog Bowls -Our Newest Product

Bamboo Dog Bowls by Harry Barker

You have to check out our newest product, Bamboo Dog Bowls.  These bowls are made by one of our favorite companies, Harry Barker.  These bowls are eco friendly because they are made out of bamboo which is a great alternative to wood.  Bamboo’s environmental benefits arise largely out of its ability to grow and spread quickly — in some cases three to four feet per day — without the need for fertilizers, pesticides or much water.

A bamboo grove also releases some 35 percent more oxygen into the air than a similar-sized stand of trees, and it matures (and can be replanted) within seven years (compared to 30-50 years for a stand of trees), helping to improve soil conditions and prevent erosion along the way. Bamboo is so fast-growing that it can yield 20 times more timber than trees on the same area.
